Are we complicating ourselves? Do we use Tech for things that need a simpler response? On the way to Collision I ran into to someone other people while we were getting off the Subway. They invited me to share an Uber. I declined and jumped on the bus that arrived. Leaving them on the curbside waiting for their Uber.
A funny thing happened on the way to Collision….
On Tuesday I took the TTC to #CollisionConf. Coming from the west that meant along the Bloor Subway line to Ossington Station, then the bus down to the Enercare Center.
When I got to Ossington I took an elevator up to street level. There were 4 other people on the elevator, including 3 guys wearing the Alpha wristbands. So I said hey… we are all going to Collision. (My mother taught me to talk to nice strangers, lol).
Anyway, one of them said… great, they could now split the Uber 4 ways. I said, no thanks I planned to take the bus., it’s only 830 and I have plenty of time.
Being Alpha’s they were concerned they were running late because they had man their station. They also expressed a little too cool for the bus attitude.
At street level, the bus was there and I jumped on. Yes, the bus was crowded. It got me down to the venue in under 20 minutes. As I got on, the Alphas were still standing on the curbside staring at their phones, looking around for their Uber, and occasionally eyeing the bus until we pulled away.
I wonder who got there first, lol!
