International Women’s Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the progress we have made together. This IWD 2023 year, the theme of celebrating embracing equality calls us to support one another in achieving our dreams.
Imagine what we can achieve together if everyone is empowered and believed in one another – imagine how much progress we could make!
Today, let us come together and proudly stand with female innovators, change makers, entrepreneurs, healthcare workers, teachers – every single woman who believes that anything is possible when given the opportunity.
Which is why it is so crucial for us to support equal opportunity. Sometimes a quieter problem than equal pay. The chance for every person to realize their full potential.
And it starts with belief.
Yes, it’s important for us to support and encourage each other always. The key to unlocking opportunity is a belief – by both men and women – in possibility. That is what is at the heart of innovation. Unlocking what-if.
This year on LinkedIn I posted a quote by the American poet Adrienne Rich.
“The most important thing that one woman can do for another is expand her sense of actual possibilities”.
I long for the day, when this statement can be rewritten so that it’s not specific to gender. That each of us humans work to expand the sense of possibly for all.
That no one loses there sense of agency that is our birthright. No matter our personal circumstances.
On that day we will be fully embracing equality.
