I wanted to share with you something that I am doing this week. With the hope you consider it to. Even if you haven’t had any thoughts about creating an online membership.
It’s a three-day free workshop with Stu McLaren about memberships that starts tomorrow Apr 21st at 3pm ET.
Full disclosure.
It’s not an affiliate link. I’m an attendee and want to share something I think you can benefit from too. I don’t know what his offer will be at the end. Possibly his online membership. As well, signing up will likely result in you getting marketing emails about it.
I heard about Stu from Amy Porterfield. Someone I follow. In January, I went to a session of his on the top 5 trends in online learning. It introduced me to Searchie.
I’m preparing to launch a membership on Searchie soon. As well, I will be promoting my affiliate link for Searchie. The offer will include six months free access to the valueSTK membership. Including a playlist aimed at helping people use Searchie. More on that in the future.
So why an online membership? And why Searchie?
A membership is a digital product that let’s your audience consume your learning content, over time. It’s not necessarily a community, though you might offer a community along side it. Think of membership as the content and community as a way for members to connect and share. (Stu may describe it differently in the workshop.)
To me the difference between a digital course and a membership is really in the business model. A course is usually an upfront fee. A membership is a monthly price. In a course the leaning content can be dripped over a schedule or all at once. It’s usually static. A membership is typically a mix of existing core content and ongoing new content. The core content could also be dripped for new users.
Searchie allows you to do either. And other business models for the digital products that coaches, consultants, and online service providers want to create.
The power of Searchie over other content platforms, is in three cool features.
- Uploaded content is transcribed and becomes searchable. (Members can find content that interests them easily).
- Create playlists that help organize your content. (Giving you power to present content in multiple ways. A course becomes a playlist).
- Users can be segmented and provided personalized access to the content and playlists that best serves their needs. (Enabling you to provide tailored experiences.)
It’s something I’m really excited about creating for my audience. I’m so enthusiastic about that I want to share it with you early!
And… If you sign up for Stu’s session… we’ll see you in the comments!
