I was having a conversation recently with another Founder about how to perform superior customer engagement in a B2B environment. What slipped off my tongue without really thinking a great deal about it was that a key way to build a strong relationship with your customer and get repeat business is to make your customer look good in their own organization. (I added, it’s probably something you want to do for your boss too, but that’s for another conversation)
Use Social to Bring People to your Site (Not to Send Them Away)
You’ve succeeded in the hard work of getting them to come to your site, why throw this away. To decrease the bounce rate and increase conversions on your site, you want to use social to bring people to your website, not to use social on your websites to draw people away.
Treat your Customer’s Information as Treasure
My birthday is the 5th day of some month. So I was surprised and took notice when LinkedIn included in an announcement email to congratulate me on my birthday this month. I didn’t remember giving them my birthday, but I’ve had the account so long I thought maybe I gave it as account verification information. I presumed it was the usual headache that can arise out of the fact that the US represents dates as month/day and the UK/CAN represents dates as day/month.
Who else would benefit from this conversation?
This week I attended the TPMA (Toronto Product Management Association) monthly meeting: Are Your Sales Teams Truly Enabled to Sell Your Product? The speaker this month was Nicki Weiss, founder of sales effectiveness consulting company Saleswise. At the end of the meeting, Nicki left us with a challenge. Explaining that the most effective business relationships are actually triads, she challenged us to look at ways to include an additional person when we set up one-to-one business meetings.
True Innovators welcome competition
The concept was put forward simply. When what you are developing is so innovative that you are developing something not previously envisioned, having other players do something similar helps build credibility for your product. If you are the only one exposing a novel idea or product, then people may not listen. If there is more than one voice promoting new concepts, then the market may be more willing to embrace and adopt the new ideas.
Improve your customer’s experience by avoiding these easy mistakes
I had a huge problem this winter with the heating in my condominium apartment. It was made all the more unbearable because my engagement with the people who were responsible to fix it was way below par. I usually try to write a post that reflects positively on what to do – this prompted me to write a few basics on what you shouldn’t do.
